UWANOSUKE Soragoro

Vaudevillian, singer-songwriter. Based in Tokyo and Takayama, active throughout Japan and abroad. Performed as BARON until 2019. On stage, he sings and plays ukulele with a variety of genres from original songs, jazz, bossa nova, reggae, hip-hop and folk songs, creating shows with a theatrical approach.
He has appeared in a number of ‘Children’s Challenge’ DVDs. Winner of the ‘Voix de Ville’ in Montreal, Canada, summer 2014. Nominated for the Best Choreography Award at the St-Ambroise Montréal Fringe Festival in Canada, June 2015. Performed in ‘Musica Piccolino’ on the NHK Educational TV in 2022. Also active in Aitsu & Around the world Orchestra and Casino Follies. Belongs to Asakusa Toyokan and Boys Variety Association.
The original meaning of vaudeville is ‘voix de ville’ (voice of the town) in French. Inheriting the spirit of the satirical songs and entertainment comedy shows that began in Europe and the US in the early 1900s and became very popular in Japan, he sings, plays, and dances about the present (now) to the tune of roots music.
